We are now transitioning to be known as HYDE-N-WOOD Leather and Wood Crafters! Since we have started working with both leather and wood materials, we felt it beneficial to identify our business brand as such. Of course, offering only the highest quality craftmanship to our customers and always the best personal interactions!
We are a husband & wife team that has over 20 years of side by side working experience. With a background in business ownership, law enforcement and recently retired as a School Safety Guard, we have personal insight that brings these experiences to the craft and design we have to offer. We take extreme pride in every piece of wood we carve and in the satisfaction of those that receive our work.
From the beginning, we have been making US Flags from wood. We have done many for our law enforcement brothers and sisters featuring their service badges, their names and Badge number. We also carve individual agency badges. Of course, we can usually take your ideas and transform them into beautiful wood keepsakes!
Some seem to think you just throw an image or design on the computer, load it into the CNC wood router or our Laser CNC engraving machine, push a button and sit back and watch. That just makes us chuckle a bit! Besides the investment in the equipment, all the carving bits, expensive design software and much more, you really need to appreciate how each detail of the carve is interpreted into the wood. We put a lot of time into that process, and sometimes carve a lot of "firewood" until we get it just right! Each project is made to order. Every project starts with a bare piece of wood, each unique in grain and appearance. It is then prepared for the carving process. After the carving, sanding, staining and the final finish to make that special piece just for you!
After a lot of research, we decided to add a commercial laser engraver to our shop! The laser not only will enhance or current CNC projects, but it opens up a broad offering to our clients who want personalized items. Of course we can engrave on wood, but now we can work with leather, slate, cutting boards, coasters and so much more!
Almost everything we carve or engrave involves some type of wood or natural hydes. All these materials are subject to many variations in appearance. Sometimes, no matter the type of wood and sealer applied, it can bow, warp or change in appearance depending on sunlight, humidity and other unforseen conditions. Of course since we are dealing with actual full grain hydes, there are many natural variations that enhance the unique quality of each piece we make. We take every step to select and finish each project with select lumber and hydes to produce the best quality we can! We just cannot guarantee against the forces that naturally exist in wood products.

Since all our work is custom made to order, waiting until the last minute may cause an issue with our ability to complete your project in time. We look forward to helping you get your project started and completed on-time!
*Please consider that we are a retired couple and we do travel during the hot Florida summer months to escape the heat. We do put our Etsy shop on vacation mode from mid-May until around October 1st, since we are unable to process orders during that time. Please don't hesitate to email us with project ideas that we discuss and plan for when we return to open up our shop for business!
